2016-06-24-image 2.jpgRadisson Blu, the iconic hotel brand driven by innovation and design, is delighted to announce that the world-famous architecture and brand design firm, Snøhetta, has created Oslo’s newest and most sophisticated hangout on top of Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel, Oslo. The Summit Bar on 21st floor of the hotel offers the guests breathtaking views over Norway’s capital and the Oslo Fjord.

“With Snøhetta we wanted to create the best sky bar in Oslo where people can come and enjoy tasty cocktails in a sophisticated chilled-out atmosphere. Businesspeople, trend hunting locals and Radisson Blu hotel guests can enjoy the best of our city and experience the magnificence of standing on top of a mountain. The Summit Bar is simply spectacular,” says Tomi Meriläinen, General Manager at Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel, Oslo.

With its 22 floors, the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel is one of the tallest buildings in Oslo. The new Summit Bar has recently come out of an extensive renovation process, where all interior and design, the bar and the drink menu has got a fresh new identity. The panoramic windows of the Summit Bar offer spectacular views of Oslo. The back wall of the bar is designed to be part of the experience and now gives the guests a 360-degree view from a mountain top.

“With the surrounding city as a backdrop, we have designed an abstract landscape of sculptural forms which create a series of open and accommodating spaces. We wanted to create an interior which would frame a fantastic Birdseye view over Oslo. The project has been rewarding in addition to having a fantastic location”, says Nina Bjerve Andresen, interior architect at Snøhetta.

Snøhetta is an internationally renowned practice of architecture and brand design, which has done projects like the great Alexandria Library in Egypt, the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York, USA.

A renovated landmark
The landmark Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel in Oslo first opened its doors in 1975 and marked the beginning of Oslo as a congress city. With almost 500 rooms and more than 40 years of experience, the hotel is today one of the biggest and most prestigious conference and event venues in the capital.

2015-16 has seen an extensive renovation of several of the hotel rooms, the fitness area with swimming pool and the social areas like Summit Bar. The newly renovated guest rooms offer inspiring design, with wood and leather details, iconic art and modern solutions.

“Guests can enjoy the chic room design in the renovated hotel rooms - inspired by big cities from all over the world. We chose these designs to give our guests a truly special and international hotel experience”, says Tomi Meriläinen.

With sophisticated design details and modern solutions, and Radisson Blu’s award-winning “Yes I Can!”-service, the hotel group aims to continue delighting its global business and leisure travelers.
